R&D Choreography

R&D Choreography is a Chicago-based violence design company comprising partners Victor Bayona (he/him) and Rick Gilbert (he/him). We are falling all over ourselves to have our work seen at the Geffen for the first time! R&D was founded in 1997 for the purpose of improving the power and effectiveness of Chicago area theatre through the art of violence design—choreographing better fights for better shows. We have designed violence for over three hundred productions and films. Our work has been seen at dozens of Chicago area theatres, including Back Room Shakespeare Project, Chicago Opera Theater, Citadel Theatre, The Factory Theater, Goodman Theatre, Haven Chicago, Hell in a Handbag Productions, Lifeline Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre Company, Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, Oak Park Festival Theatre, Oil Lamp Theater, Paramount Theatre, Piven Theatre Workshop, Steep Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, TUTA Theare, and Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre.
