Thompson is a 2025 AUDELCO Award nominee for his role in the Off-Broadway revival of Ceremonies in Dark Old Men (Negro Ensemble Company, directed by Clinton Turner Davis), a New York Times Critic's Pick. His Off-Broadway credits include Harlem Hellfighters on a Latin Beat, The Falling Season, Couriers and Contrabands, The Two Roberts, and At Buffalo. NY Theatre: A Soldier’s Play, Staged, Fly. Regional: The Hot Wing King (Alliance Theatre, Hartford Stage, Baltimore Center Stage), Hurt People (Eugene O’Neill Theater Center), The Mountaintop, The Bluest Eye, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, The Piano Lesson, Seven Guitars, Flyin’ West, and Voodoo Macbeth.
